Amanda and Ian Clayton have owned The Woodhouse Arms since 2012 and opened the doors for business in June 2013 after a major refurbishment of what was an almost derelict building.
They met each other in Perranporth, Cornwall in 1988, where Ian was working as an Entertainments Manager on a holiday centre (It was all a bit Dirty Dancing!). Throughout their lives together they have carved a career within the hospitality industry. In the early days, Amanda, who is largely in control of the operations of the business, gained valuable experience under Sonny Rosengran at The Tamarisk Tree, Sorrento, Western Australia. Her time working at The Tamarisk gave her the appetite to run her own business and together they have owned and run a number of venues around the UK over the last 25 years.
Ian and Amanda understand the importance of their team, without which, the Woodhouse Arms would not be such a warm, enjoyable place to spend time, whether dining, drinking or sleeping.
Tom and Gemma lead the front of house team, ensuring every service is professionally delivered, always putting customers first, creating a relaxed environment with high standards. Our team of five Chefs in the kitchen have all been Heads in previous kitchens, which gives us the edge, they work together changing the menus seasonally, showcasing all of their own signature dishes, consistently delivering delicious, beautifully presented food.
